Meshari stopped by Friday evening for a visit and told us he successfully defended his master's thesis last Thursday. All of his hard work and diligence has paid off. We are so very proud of him and promised to take him out to dinner to celebrate. We know that his friends and family back home are very proud also, and when he returns in May, I'm sure there will be a wonderful celebration.
That isn't the only celebration in store for him. He told us that in July he will get married. He even invited us, but there is no way I would survive a long plane ride like that. I can barely remain sane when I take a one hour flight.
I remember when Meshari was living with us, there were a couple of times when I asked him if he had a picture of his fiance. He sort of changed the subject. Eventually, he did let me see her and now I have in my mind the future couple they will be together. I wish them a long and happy life together...and I've told Meshari several times that to make a woman a happy wife, a husband needs to willingly help around the house and with the children...that marriage needs to be a partnership. After all, what woman...no matter what country she lives in....would not love a husband who says, "You look tired today. Go sit down and relax. I'll put the children to bed"?
Anyway, our first homestay student will graduate this may, get married this summer, and begin a whole new chapter of his life.
I know that our lives have been enriched and blessed by knowing our dear friend, Meshari.
Meshari treated us to some fun time at "Chucky Cheese" summer 2011
